A Brief Description:
The
client has developed an application that will be used by its’ Sales
Personnel for presentations at the customer sites. The application
resides on a CD media. It runs on the personal computers (laptops
or desktops).
This
Software will be used by the client to present on-line demonstration
of their products to their customers. The client has Sales Representatives
(“SR”) all over the country (and world). These SRs actually visit
their regional customers on-site and present the presentation.
The
process is as follows:
- On the day of the presentation, the SR visits the customer site either
with or without laptop and application CD.
- At the time of presentation, the SR plugs the CD in his/her laptop
OR customer’s PC that has Internet connection (dial-in or DSL).
This machine becomes the Viewer. In one session, there could be
two viewers.
- At
the same time the Specialist in Raleigh office logs in from his
computer that already has the application loaded on his PC. He
becomes the Presenter. In one session, there can be only one presenter.
- The
complete application resides on CD. When the Presenter and Viewer
are logged on through the Internet (using some main server in
the client's ISP / data center). The application in Presenter
mode and Viewer mode then communicate with each other throughout
the presentation.
- Depending
on customer’s needs, the presenter selects the presentation items.
- The
actual presentation is in Macromedia Flash. It has simulation
of a Control Room with all the equipments. The presentation demonstrates
the functionality and connectivity of various equipments. The
presentation has video and audio components.
- The
Presenter controls the operation within the application.
- The
viewer has View only control except Groupboard functionality.
Since
the SRs are not all client's employees, they are free to use personal
computers of any configuration (currently only with Microsoft Operating
System). Therefore, this application needs to run on various platforms
of hardware, operating systems, browsers etc.
